On June 12, 2024, EMIE 2024 was successfully held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center. This event was guided by the Guangzhou Science and Technology Association and jointly organized by Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou Emerging Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd., Guangdong Institute of Information Chemical Academic Exchange, and Guangzhou Development Zone Investment Group Co., Ltd. The Guangdong University of Technology’s School of Materials and Energy hosted the conference, with co-organizers including the Electronic Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CEPREI), Guangzhou Ultra High Definition Video Industry Promotion Association, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Huangpu Materials Research Institute, and AEIC Academic Exchange Center. The event was supported by the Science and Technology Association of Nansha District, Guangzhou, and the Academic Exchange Capability Improvement Platform of Science and Technology Societies in Guangdong.
The conference was chaired by Professor Min Yonggang from Guangdong University of Technology and Director Sun Yousong, head of the KrF photoresist center at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Huangpu Materials Research Institute. The event attracted nearly 100 representatives from educational institutions and enterprises related to electronic materials and information engineering nationwide. Notable keynote speakers included Academician Ma Yuguang, a professor at South China University of Technology, Academician Sun Xiaowei, a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering and a member of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials, and Academician Min Yonggang from Guangdong University of Technology. Zeng Xueling, Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Science and Technology Association, along with other officials, also attended to extend their congratulations.
This academic conference marked not only the first event of Guangzhou’s "International Academic Exchange Capital" initiative for 2024 but also one of the activities in the series commemorating the "530 National Science and Technology Workers’ Day." During the conference, the "Guide to Academic Exchange Activities for the Construction of Guangzhou as the 'International Academic Conference Capital' (2024)" was launched. This guide meticulously compiles over 210 academic exchange activities planned in Guangzhou this year, covering various disciplines such as life sciences, engineering and materials science, information science, management science, medical science, and chemical science. It presents unique scientific highlights and engaging content, serving as a highly valuable reference for understanding the academic vitality and technological innovation landscape in Guangzhou.
In her opening remarks, Vice Chairman Zeng Xueling underscored that electronic materials and information engineering represent core sectors of contemporary technological advancement, significantly contributing to the development of new productive forces, industrial upgrading and transformation, enhancement of national competitiveness, and assurance of national security. She expressed hope that the conference would effectively leverage academic exchanges as the original impetus for technological innovation, sharing cutting-edge information, exploring collaborative applications, promoting the transformation of outcomes, and driving technological innovation and industrial advancement, ultimately invigorating the vision of a future-forward Guangzhou empowered by technology and talent.
The conference featured four keynote speeches, six invited reports, and a roundtable forum. The keynote speeches covered topics such as "Progress in Organic Photonic Materials" by Academician Ma Yuguang, "Quantum Dot Displays and Their Pixelation" by Academician Sun Xiaowei, "Development and Outlook of Photoresist Materials" by Academician Min Yonggang, and "Synthesis and Testing of Photoresist Resins" by Professor Nie Jun, Dean of the School of Chemistry at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Invited reports were presented by Research Fellow Guo Haiquan from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Huangpu Materials Research Institute; Associate Research Fellow Teng Chao from Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School; General Manager Yang Zhongping from Guangdong Chengzhan Technology Co., Ltd.; Senior Engineer Huang Zhaowen from the Huangpu Materials Research Institute; Deputy General Manager Wu Xiangdong from Ningbo Microchip New Material Technology Co., Ltd.; and Professor Li Haoyuan from the School of Microelectronics at Shanghai University. During the roundtable forum, a lively discussion on "The Progress of Domestic Production of Electronic Materials and Photoresists" was conducted, featuring insights from Academicians Ma Yuguang, Sun Xiaowei, and Min Yonggang, as well as Professor Nie Jun, Director Sun Yousong, Research Fellow Guo Haiquan, and Associate Research Fellow Teng Chao.
The conference venue also showcased 15 recent research achievements in related fields through a poster display, recognizing two outstanding poster presenters: Zhang Boyang from Beijing University of Technology and Zhao Zebang from Beijing Jiaotong University.
In conclusion, the 4th International Academic Conference on Electronic Materials and Information Engineering was a resounding success! The conference substantially advanced progress and trends in electronic materials and information engineering, fostering greater collaboration and exchange among research institutions and academia, and paving the way for the establishment of fruitful partnerships.
